Moncton, April 6, 2018 – The Electrifying Night Run returns on June 15th for its third edition. Walkers and runners are invited to take part in this race, which raises funds to support women with breast cancer. The race starts at 9PM in front of the Dr. Léon-Richard Oncology Centre.
“The Electrifying Night Run brings together all the elements needed to make for a memorable evening: physical activity, the opportunity to socialize and have fun between friends or as a family, and the opportunity of supporting a great cause while doing it!”, says Dr. Jocelyne Hébert, Surgeon at the Breast Health Center and member of the organizing committee.
The Electrifying Night Run is open to both pros and beginners. Participants have the option of walking or running – or a combination of the two – over a five kilometer course. Last year, the event unfolded in a festive and fun atmosphere and raked in $20,000.
Funds raised by the 2018 edition will be used to maintain the delivery of non-insured services for patients who need them and will continue to be used to improve the quality of life of patients of the Centre. A portion of funds raised this year will also go towards the development of a follow-up clinic for high-risk patients and for the establishment of a genetic testing service.
Jacques B. LeBlanc, President & CEO of the CHU Dumont Foundation, is convinced this year’s edition will be another great success for the Electrifying Night Run.
“We are very fortunate to have the Breast Health Centre’s expertise here at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre. By participating, the community shows its support to both the Centre’s staff and to the patients who come to receive quality care. More than 500 people accepted the invitation last year allowing us to raise a sum of $20,000 which made a real difference in the lives of these patients. We hope to do even better this year.”
